Little Brother 'Hip-Hop Series’ (Video)

"Hip Hop Series" - Little Brother from Good*Fella Radio on Vimeo.

"Little Brother had an in-store appearance at Fat Beats NYC a few weeks ago. Good Fella Radio was on hand to record the session and ask a few questions. Here, the duo speak on coming together for one last LP, upcoming projects, and more. It’s always great to hear how an artist creates, it adds to the connection you already have listening to their music." Good Fella Radio

Writers Corner - Drake

In this new segment of The HipHop Chamber, I will discuss how artists write their rhymes.

So to start it off I will explain how Drake writes and rhymes.
Drake loves to rhyme in in multis
For example "me and wayne lean like kareem doing hookshots cover me I'm going in and **** you when the hook drops" - I'm Goin' in (Rumor is Nickelus F wrote this verse)
Notice how he uses a compound rhyme aka a multis (Hookshot & Hook drops).

Another example is from the track 'Presentation'
"I'm tellin' you, I got enough cloud for two
And like a nxgga turn blood I came out the blue"

Compound rhymes Cloud for two & Came out the blue
Notice how these both have 4 syllables

(1)Clo(2)ud (3)for (4)two & (1)Came (2)out (3)the (4)blue
and the rhyming words Cloud & Came out and Two & Blue
                                           Photo
Now, another thing Drake does is influenced by his 'Little (BIG) Brother' Phonte
Instead of rhyming at the end of each line, he will place the rhyming word in the middle of
line 1 and the end of line 2 as so
At Times She A Solid Chick And Im A Sucka For The Cuties
So She Always Lookin Good When My Wallets Thick
Chillin On The
Linen, She All Up In The Closet So Much
Got A Hunch Thats Shes Feelin Other Women - Video Girl

Another thing I would like to point out are his metaphors
"But She Got Less Sense (scents) Than A Empty Perfume Bottle" (Nice pun Drizzy!)

Drake's rhymes iare mostly literal, meaning he says what he means.
But when he uses metaphors they are memorable.

Now his flow is similar to Kanye West & Joe Budden in regards to delivery
and to argue that it isn't influenced by Ye or Budden would be absurb.
Drake elongates his rhyming words in a similar fashion as Mr.West as well as beasts compound rhyme schemes like Joey. Remember "If I'm mimicing Budden's flow you are mimicing his career. "
Just listen to any Drake track and you will find similaries with these influences.

This album is more G.Love 'Lemonade' than the raw hip-hop sound of his http://sharebee.com/dc641bbb From Here to There mixtape (ft. Kid Daytona and more). MUST DOWNLOAD! Pretty exciting there is a new breed of hip-hop artists that can rhyme and sing. Too bad we all know how that ends...

Best of Drake Entry 1

Drake

Drake is a HUGE sellout. Listen to Room for Improvement, Comeback Season,The Drought is Over and tell me he hasn’t compromised lyricism for some quick cash and late night smash. (His old lyrics contradict who he is now as an "artist")So lame to hear him "hook shot..hook drops" type rhyme scheme every line.

Asher Roth may be discredited for his subject matter but Asher to YM Drake is like Water to Wine. The wine tastes real good but if you consume too much your head starts pounding. While water flows and get you through the day.

Check out how many inner rhymes Asher has in 'Lark in my Go Kart' and go look up the lyrics to Drake's newest rhyme. Like art to coloring books. Well I digress.

This is how he should sound only more matured now a days.....
